While trailers are highly versatile and can handle a wide variety of different cargo types, there are some things that are just not suitable for transport. Here at TSI Trailers, the safety of our customers is one of our top priorities, which is why we’ve created this guide to what not to haul in a trailer.

1. Hazardous Materials

Certain materials, such as chemicals, oil, gasoline, and propane, are highly flammable. Should these materials leak or spill, it can create a serious safety risk. Similarly, objects like explosives and compressed gas cylinders may rupture during transport, causing serious damage. These kinds of unsafe and unstable cargo require special considerations to transport safely. Never attempt to transport them in your trailer.

2. Large Animals

With the clear exception of horse trailers, most trailers were not built to safely transport a large animal. Attempting to do so is likely to result in physical injury and distress to the animal, damage to the trailer itself, or both.

3. Heavy Machinery

Do not attempt to transport heavy machinery like tractors and front-end loaders in your trailer. Your trailer was not designed to handle these heavy machines and is likely to become damaged even if the machinery falls within weight limits.
