1. Proper Inflation

We recommend that you measure in the morning, as that is when the tires will be cold and your measurements will be most accurate.

Bent axles are among the most common maintenance issues when it comes to flatbed trailers. If you are seeing excessive tire wear and cannot pinpoint the cause, try checking the axles. 

3. Weather Protection

Weather can cause major damage to your flatbed trailer if you are not careful. Always store it indoors away from the sun’s damaging rays when possible. If this is not an option, you should regularly inspect your tires to ensure that they are not becoming cracked from excessive sun damage. 

4. Loading Your Trailer

You may be surprised to learn that the way in which you load your flatbed trailer impacts the health of your tires. Every trailer has a number called the Gross Combined Weight Rating. This number tells you the total weight your trailer (and its tires) can safely handle. Remember that exceeding this limit is not only dangerous and likely to damage your trailer, it is also illegal. Also keep in mind that even weight distribution can go a long way towards preventing a tire blowout.

There are many different types of tires out there, each offering a unique set of features and benefits. For example, radial tires offer improved traction, an extended lifespan, and better fuel efficiency.
