The first choice to make is whether you want a closed trailer or an open trailer. A closed trailer will keep the car that you are transporting safe from both human activity like vandalism and thievery, and from the elements. Overall, a closed trailer is the better choice if protecting the vehicle is your top priority. On the other hand, open trailers require a lot less material to produce, so they are a lot cheaper. They are also slightly easier to load and unload. Overall, pick the trailer type that aligns best with your needs.
Construction Material
Most car haulers are constructed from either aluminum or steel. Aluminum is lightweight and flexible, which can be an issue when transporting heavier vehicles. While you can still use an aluminum trailer for heavier vehicles, it will need to be bulkier to compensate. Steel trailers hold up a bit better under heavy weight, but are vulnerable to rusting. Trailer Size
Car haulers come in various sizes. If you only plan to transport one average-sized car at a time, then a smaller trailer will be fine. However, if you plan to transport multiple vehicles at once or transport larger vehicles, you will need a bigger trailer.
