ATV Trailer Buying Guide
ATV trailers are the easiest way to transport your quad from place to place. If you’re interested in purchasing an ATV trailer of your own, this guide from the experts at TSI Trailers can help you find the right model for you.
Size
How many ATVs do you plan to transport? If the answer is just one, then a smaller trailer should be enough. However, transporting multiple ATVs will require a bigger trailer, and bigger trailers are both more expensive and more difficult to tow.
Weight
Know your tow vehicle’s gross combined weight rating (GCWR) before you start shopping. A trailer that is so heavy that you can’t safely haul it is no good after all. Don’t forget to factor in the weight of the trailer itself in addition to any passengers and additional cargo you want to bring in addition to the ATVs.
Budget
Budgeting is very important. Not only do you want to have a set spending limit so that you don’t accidentally spend more than you intended to spend on an ATV trailer, but additional costs like licensing fees, maintenance, and so on can add up quickly if you don’t keep track of them.
Practical Considerations
An ATV trailer isn’t very useful if you can’t load your ATV onto it. If your ATV trailer doesn't have a ramp already installed, consider adding one. A ramp makes loading and unloading your powersports vehicles so much easier. You should also consider whether you want an open or an enclosed ATV trailer. An open ATV trailer is cheaper and easier to load, but an enclosed trailer offers better protection against weather, vandalism and theft.
